What is CBD (cannabidiol)?
Cannabidiol-CBD is one of more than 400 compounds found in the cannabis plant (cannabinoids, terpenes or terpenoids and flavonoids), of which more than 60 are unique to cannabis. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD is not psychoactive. But like THC, cannabidiol has a long list of medicinal benefits. Until the 21st century, THC stood alone on the scene and had all the spotlight on it. As the “active ingredient” (at least as the only psychoactive one), it got the lion’s share of the scientific, media and popular attention. But the medical potential of CBD oil has been in the spotlight for a few years now. CBD has many applications and very positive effects in a range of conditions and as research on cannabidiol increases, the more we see the healing properties of this particular natural substance.
